Programs

The concept of the "Bucket Brigade" refers to a method that our nation's founding fathers used to fight fire. For example Benjamin Franklin introduced the idea of more participants to maximize the efficiency of Volunteer Fire Departments to better fight fires. Here, we extrapolate the concept to illustrate how, by involving a maximum of citizen participation (youth) to address the well-being of hospitalized children, we further benefit the common good of the community.

GHH uses the concept of "bucket brigade" to communicate its' strategy which:

Introduces the Glories hat production process as a value chain method;
Invites every youth to participate in creating Glories hats "filled with happy thoughts" to emphasize the value of youth civic engagement;
Illustrates the scale of pediatric hospitalizations to further our awareness as to the need for immediate, broad-based and collective action in support of children's health and the environment;
Galvanizes communities in a focused project that simultaneously builds social, economic and human capital;
Stimulates teamwork and community capacity building to effectively provide a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for our children's future;
Utilizes this synergy to further strengthen efforts in asset-based community organization which can be applied to community readiness and emergency preparedness.

Each of GHH's four integrated programs are firmly rooted in the authentic Glories HATS Project® workshop activity where teamwork builds community connections as it meets the psycho-social needs of all children. Through GHH systematic implementation strategy, the resulting benefits of this activity can be amplified throughout an entire region; whereas teamwork, experience, awareness, and knowledge grow, so does:

Environmental Stewardship
Civic Engagement and Prepared Citizenry
